Category: Jewish Sites and Cemeteries Region: Sokolov and its surroundings Town: Kynšperk

The Jewish cemetery may be found on the edge of the town of Kynšperk nad Ohří. It is situated on a steep slope on the northern side of the castle hill where it spreads over the former castle circumvallation and two ramparts. The original cemetery was allegedly founded in the mid 14th century. It is said that the victims of the pogrom in Cheb that took place in 1350 are buried at the cemetery.

Almost 170 tombstones dating to the period from 1729 to 1949 have been preserved. They are placed in cascades lined by brick walls.
