Royal Golf Club in Mariánské Lázně

Category: Golf courses Region: Mariánské Lázně and its surroundings Town: Mariánské Lázně

The course of the Mariánské Lázně Golf Club is an example of the classical type of the Scottish and Irish courses. It was established in 1905 and thus it is the oldest course on Czech territory. It was founded and festively opened on 21 August 1905 by English King Edward VII. After cutting the ribbon he signed his name into the guest book by a golden pen and he also became the first founding member of the club. The Golf Club Mariánské Lázně is the only club in Central Europe which can boast such famous past. Achieving the right to use the title of “Royal Golf Club” by the generous decision of the British Queen Elisabeth II in 2003 is certainly the highlight of the club’s history.

The course is surrounded mostly by coniferous woods making it pleasant to the players even on very hot summer days. Views of the surrounding landscape not disturbed by buildings open up in many places. The greens are very small in comparison with the newly built courses but they are well-protected by bunkers. The course’s terrain is mostly flat. It may seem easy at the first sight but a number of hazards requiring a very precise technical play will turn up during playing the course.

A public 9-hole Chip&Putt course accessible to the public even without the green card adjoins the master course. There are also a driving range, a clubhouse with necessary facilities, a restaurant, rental of equipment, a pro-shop and instructor’s services etc. available.
