Ryžovna Nature Reserve

Category: Points of Interest Region: Krušné hory – Ore Mountains Town: Boží Dar

The knoll between Hřebečná and Ryžovna, 1000-1040 m above sea level, was declared a nature reserve in 1990, protecting not only the uncovered basaltic rocks but also endangered plant and animal communities of the topside part of Krušné hory (Ore Mountains) on an area of 20 hectares. The following endangered plants grow here, among others: wolf's bane, hairy bittercress, masterwort, Meum athamanticum or large white buttercup, and a number of protected birds live here as well (e.g. Corn Crake, Eurasian Wryneck, Whinchat or Black Grouse) and many other animal species.

The area around Ryžovna offers not only a beautiful landscape but a number of opportunities for summer and winter tourism and sports as well.

A themed nature trail leads through the Ryžovna Nature Reserve. More info >>
