All Saints Church in Jáchymov

Category: Religious Monuments Region: Krušné hory – Ore Mountains Town: Jáchymov

The All Saints Church, also called the Hospital Church, is the oldest monument inJáchymov and one of the oldest framed churches in the western part of Krušné hory (Ore Mountains). It is a one-nave building with saddle-back roof built in the 16th century, combining the elements of the Renaissance and Gothic periods.

In spite of ongoing reconstructions and repairs the church was in danger of collapsing at the end of the last century. Due to a complete reconstruction in 1991-1993 it will be here for the next generations as well. The original bell from 1520 was placed to the church tower after reconstruction.

Old stone tombstones and Lucas Cranach’s altar have been preserved in the interior. The sculptural group of Calvary by the Dresden sculptor Christoph Walter from 1544 has been preserved here as well.
