Ferdinand Spring Colonnade in Mariánské Lázně

Category: Spa Architecture Region: Mariánské Lázně and its surroundings Town: Mariánské Lázně

As you enter the beautiful park in Mariánské Lázně - Úšovice, you will see the Ferdinand Spring Colonnade (Kolonáda Ferdinandova pramene). Like the other local colonnades, this one was also built at the instigation of the Abbot of the Teplá Monastery in 1827. The oldest mineral spring can be found here. It is named after King Ferdinand I, who had the spring examined already in 1528 with the purpose of extracting salt from it. Today, it is used for drinking cure as well as for therapeutic baths.
