Nature Trail – In the Miners’ Traces

The nature trail “In the Miners’ Traces” is focused on geology, mining and natural monuments and history. In spite of some significant problems with marking (incorrectly marked or missing boards) the route of the trail is interesting and it would be a shame to miss it.

Stations:

  1.  Krušné hory (Ore Mountains) (Geology of the Ore Mountain system);
  2.  Bublava (history, livelihood of the inhabitants, Bublava as a winter sports centre);
  3.  “Kamenáč” – Aschberg (Geology, tale of the magical miner’s lamp);
  4.  Olověný vrch (Lead Hill) (marked as No. 6 on the maps on the boards; medieval lead mining, observation tower from 1933, livelihood of inhabitants – agriculture);
  5.  Vegetation
  6.  Olověný vrch (Lead Hill)
  7.  Animals (mammals, birds, reptiles, fish and insects);
  8.  “Tisovec” (medieval mines in the hill, with mining of Cu, Sn, Fe and sulphur, original growth of yew trees with trunks up to 2.5 m in diameter)
  9.  Mining in Kraslice
  10.  Geology
  11.   “Zámecký vrch” – Hausberg (until the 16th century a castle or stronghold Neuhaus / Nový hrad (New Castle) from 1272)
  12.  Creeks (historical names of creeks in the context of medieval mining and placer-mining of lead and silver, mills on Silver Creek)
  13.  Zelená hora (Zelená Hill)
  14.  Tisová (copper mining and sulphuric acid manufacture in the Svatavka River valley);
  15.  Homes (folk architecture in Krušné hory/Ore Mountains).
