Observation Tower on Krudum Mountain

Category: Lookout and Observation Towers Region: Sokolov and its surroundings Town: Horní Slavkov

The existing 50-metre high observation tower on Krudum Mountain in Slavkovský les (Slavkov Forest) stands on the site, on which a 10-metre high stone lookout had been standing since 1932 before decay turned it into a ruin. The new observation tower with a steel structure was erected on Krudum Mountain in 2008. Apart from being a tourist attraction, it also serves as a monitoring tower of the Czech Telecommunication Office.

If you want to admire the view from the lookout platform located approximately 30 metres above ground, you will need to climb 151 stairs.

Krudum Mountain is best accessible from the road leading from Sokolov to Podstrání. From the road, you have to walk up a forest path for about 4 kilometres via the former settlement of Milíře. The tower is located at an elevation of 835 metres above sea level.

It is prohibited to climb the tower in strong wind, stormy or frosty weather.

Opening hours

The tower is freely accessible from 1 April to 31 October.
