Salajna
Category: Folk Architecture Region: Cheb, Františkovy Lázně and their surroundings Town: Salajna
The village of Salajna is a part of the municipality of Dolní Žandov and it is an exquisite example of a medieval colonization valley village winding along a brook with a traditional field layout. Interestingly, most of the dwellings were situated on the left bank. The oldest structure is most probably the local mill dating to 1760. All the village houses are distinguished by the typical ring beam with an elevated half-timbered upper floor and the diagonal half-timbered chessboard pattern with differently coloured interfaces.
