Small Chateau Lookout near Františkovy Lázně

Category: Lookout and Observation Towers Region: Cheb, Františkovy Lázně and their surroundings Town: Františkovy Lázně

The history of Zámeček (Small Chateau) dates back to 1916 when a restaurant with a lookout tower was built and opened to the public. The site became popular among tourists who were coming mainly to the restaurant. Slowly dwarfed by the surrounding trees, the lookout tower was gradually forgotten and eventually closed down. Following a recent reconstruction of the whole complex, the restaurant with the lookout tower was re-opened to the public along with a new hotel offering period accommodation.

The Small Chateau is situated in the eastern tip of Františkovy Lázně. The 12-metre high lookout tower, which is a part of the building complex, is still overgrown by the surrounding tree stand and thus, any view of the surroundings is practically impossible.
