Vildštějn Castle

Category: Castles Region: Cheb, Františkovy Lázně and their surroundings Town: Františkovy Lázně

Vildštejn Castle (German: Wildstein, English: Wildstone) is situated approximately 7 kilometres north of Františkovy Lázně. It was originally built as a Romanesque castle of ministeriales in the early 13th century. In the course of centuries, the castle changed its owners several times and it was repeatedly extended.

Today, it is in private hands and only the stylish medieval dining hall on the old castle premises, the museum with the relics of the famed White Lady, and an exposition of fire-fighting machinery and equipment from the possession of Baron Trautenberg are open to the public.
