Vladař Table Mountain

Category: Points of Interest Region: Toužim and its surroundings Town: Žlutice

Vladař Table Mountain is located south-east of the municipality of Žlutice. It rises above the terrain, thus forming a striking feature of the surrounding landscape. The mountain is situated on a basalt mantle from the Tertiary Period, formed during the activity of the volcano in the nearby Doupov Mountains. A number of small rocks, frost weathered rock formations, stone runs and boulder streams stand out of its slopes.

The character of this environment allows for formation of varied forest biological communities tied to nutritious soil and rocky slopes. A small peat lake is located on the summit plateau, originally a pre-historical water cistern in the times of the local settlement, dating back to the Bronze Age.

To climb Vladař Mountain, follow the red tourist trail between the municipalities of Vladořice and Záhořice.
