Region: Aš and its surroundings

The town of Aš is the second westernmost situated town in the Czech Republic and it´s surrounded by German borders from three directions. It was founded in the 11th century, but the territory did not belong to the Kingdom of Bohemia then. It was attached to the Czech Lands and the Habsburg Monarchy by Empress Maria Theresa in 1775.

You may visit the local chateau with museum expositions, the quasi Renaissance Church of Saint Nicholas, or the nearby observation tower on Háj Hill.
