Bečov nad Teplou

Region: Karlovy Vary and its surroundings

The town of Bečov nad Teplou was founded in the 13th century. The castle was also built around that time. The chateau, which is a part of the existing complex, dates back to the 18th century.

Apart from the notable castle and chateau complex, which houses the unique Reliquary of Saint Maurus, you may also find a number of other significant structures in the town (e.g. the Church of St. George, the local parsonage), as well as a museum of historical motorcycles and toys. You may walk up the nature trail “Šibeniční vrch a šibenice” (Gallows Hill and Gallows) that is dedicated to the rituals associated with the execution of capital punishment in the early Modern Times.
