Františkovy Lázně

Region: Cheb, Františkovy Lázně and their surroundings

Františkovy Lázně (German: Franzensbad) was founded in honour of Emperor Franz I at the end of the 18th century. The local mineral springs had been known for their healing effects long before its foundation. Františkovy Lázně is a popular destination of both Czech and foreign clientele. The spa focuses on treating women's diseases and sterility. Františkovy Lázně forms the third apex of the west Bohemian spa triangle – the remaining two apexes are Karlovy Vary (Carlsbad) and Mariánské Lázně (Marienbad).

The spa town offers numerous tranquil promenades, greens and parks, as well as significant spa landmarks largely built in Empire and Classic Revival styles. You may also visit the town museum, the Church of Saint Jacob, the Salingburg Lookout Tower or the popular Aquaforum swimming pool complex.
