Nejdek
Region: Karlovy Vary and its surroundings
The town of Nejdek lies in Krušné hory (Ore Mountains). The first written record documenting the existence of Nejdek (German: Neudek) dates back to 1340. The town is dominated by a Romanesque tower, a remnant of the original castle from 1250.
A unique 1600 m long Way of the Cross passes through the town and up to Křižák Hill (literally meaning "Crusader"). The Way of the Cross has 14 stations adorned with biblical reliefs. You may also find an ethnographic museum or a Neo Renaissance chateau in Nejdek.
The town is located within reach of popular ski resorts. Tourist paths lead through the town. And you and your children will certainly enjoy the “Děti dětem” (Children to Children) nature trail.
