Žlutice

Region: Toužim and its surroundings

The town of Žlutice was founded during Slavonic colonization as a trading station lying on an important route from Prague to Cheb. The town is first mentioned in historical literature in 1186.

One of the attractions in Žlutice is a part of its publicly accessible underground, in which a small theatre or a lapidary may be found. Major historical sights include the Church of Saint Peter and Paul from 1435, the Town Hall, or the chateau gate. You may visit the Town Museum with an exposition dedicated to the Hussites where the so-called Žlutice Hymn Book is archived.

The town lies on the routes of the “Cesta z města” (Way from Town) cycle path and the red-marked tourist path.
